Morrie believes that when you are going to die, you see life much differently. You strip away all the nonessential things in life and focus on what is truly important, making room for spiritual things and casting away materialistic things.
Morrie says "Everyone knows they're going to die"(page 81) He then says that you should be prepared for it. Which to me makes very much sense about that and how you should always expect the unexpected. Then on (page 83) he said that most walk like they are sleepwalking. This surprised me and how that is true. For most are so used to doing usually the same thing everyday that it becomes a kind of tradition to them. so when you take out what you are used to doing than you going to be maybe shocked or confused because you aren't used to what is happening. This is the same as hearing " Your going to die" Not only will it effect you, but it will also change the people that you know. When someone does hear about any kind of death they change and try do something that will make everything better such as what he said about making room for spiritual things. I now learned and agree with Morrie about this topic and with try to make other I know hopefully learn as well so they do not make the same mistakes of others.
Nobody plans when they are going to die death just happens. Like Morrie said "once you learn how to die, you learn how to live." I think when your going to die you do a lot more and try to enjoy what's left by what about enjoying life as much as you can until you die. We never think about death that much until we are old but it could come at any moment. Live life as much as you can don't give up just cause you are dying. Yet we all try to avoid that death is coming. We don't want to think it's coming cause then we get all down but what we should do is enjoy what we have left before we die
Morrie admits that he views life differently now that he knows “his day” is nearing. He uses the window as an example for Mitch. I believe Morrie is right. No one appreciates what they have until they don’t have it any longer. You need to live every day like it is your last. Take advantage of what the world has to offer. Everyone needs that little birdy asking them if today is the day. When people are informed that that don’t have much longer to live, their perspective on life alters. Why not alter it now? It’s moral to die one day. Does it matter what day? "Once you learn how to die, you learn how to live."
Every day is a new day. Wake up and live like there is no tomorrow. I agree with Morrie when he says "....When you realize you are going to die, you see everything much differently" each morning when Morrie wakes up he asks himself "Is this the day?" Because Morrie knows he is going to die, he sees life from a whole other view. Every day I can get up and do so many things that other people (such as Morrie) can't do. If I knew I was dying soon I would see life differently. I would take the time to worry about the things in life that matter instead of some things that may not. No body knows what they have until it's gone right? How would I know if tomorrow would be my last day? Or maybe 2 years from now? I don't know. So, I have to appreciate more and live like I were dying,
None of us really think about when we're going to die. We know it's going to happen eventually, buried deep into our subconscious, but every single one of us refuse to dwell on it. It isn't our fault; it's just natural for us. Until we're about to die or have experienced a close call, our death is the last thing on our minds. We focus on other things, our minds "half-asleep." But, I think we shouldn't do this. As Morrie said, "Once you learn how to die, you learn to live." (Page 82) I realize now how true that is. If we accept that we are going to die, everything will become precious. The little things we do automatically, like waking up in the morning or being able to breathe, can became special, sad red even. I've always thought that I was young and had a long life to live. But do I really? Do you any of us live as long as we hope to? It hasn't been set in stone. Death comes no matter what. It's unavoidable. Our lives, believe it or not, is just a long, oneway ride to our demise. So, live each moment as if it might be your last because one day, it will be.
There's going to be that one day where we all have to die at some point. We never think about death that much when we are young but as we get older we start to think about it. Morrie says "everyone knows they're going to die." (P.g 81) but what we should do is live our live like we can we shouldn't waste the precious days that are left yet enjoy them as much as we can. Instead of just waiting to die when you have a illness or disease you should enjoy those and live everyday like it is your last. I agree with more in this chapter.
Aside from theological view points, what is death? I think I've come to understand this clearer in the past few years. I used to have panic attacks when I thought about death around the age of twelve. I would shut down and worry. To the extreme. It kind of worried my parents. But I came to peace with the perspective of death. Here's how. Death is not a scary thing. In reality, it's peace. It's a natural process that allows us to let go of our worries. No matter what you believe happens after our last breath, we are all going to experience those last few minutes of relaxation. What begins must end, right? We actually need death. If we didn't die, the world would overpopulate, and most of us wouldn't be the people we are today. Almost all of us have unfortunately been touched by the death of a frien or relative, and it is a sad thing. But we should be happy. That person who has passed on doesn't have to deal with their pains and worries anymore. The mourning that you release from that person's death will probably open your eyes to the world a little more. Death isn't terrifying, it's reassuring.
Death is a subject not many of us ponder on. I have thought about death multiple times in my life. Most of it was when I was younger. I would have terrible nightmares about dying and wake up screaming. This past year, I have encountered death with the people I know and love too many times. In fact, I have learned to cope with death because of this. Death is scary to many, many people in the world. I find it to be because you see people die in terrible ways, but there are other people who die peacefully. Death is a natural release that allows us to let go of everything. "Once you learn how to die, you learn how to live."
The thought of death never used to cross my mind. For a while, I didn't really believe it. In the summer after fifth grade I lost someone very close to me: my grandfather. I was there when it happened, and it hit me hard. I shut everyone out for the longest time and it worried everyone around me. I wouldn't talk to anybody and I rarely ate. I did not want to believe that the person who meant everything to me was gone and I wouldn't be seeing him anymore. To this day I haven't completely recovered from that and I never will, but over the years I have learned to accept it. Death is necessary to keep the world from becoming overpopulated. Death was good for him because he didn't have to hurt anymore. We have to accept that someday we will die. Once we accept that we will die someday, everything in our lives will become more valuable.
What happens after death and when death happens is a very touchy subject because no one exactly knows what happens because you’re already gone. The subject of today’s class is the time leading up to death and the question, “Am I going to die today?” This is a big question for Morrie because it could happen at any time for him. He is also experiencing the most antagonizing way of it due to his ALS. Morrie has learned to accept death because he knows it is inevitable, it’s going to happen to him and to rest of us someday. I am almost practically the opposite of Morrie mindset during this because I do not think about. I try to ignore it and not ask the question, “Am I going to die today?”
If we all dwell on when we are going to die, we may lose sight of what is important. We may wonder how we will die, but it's more important to think about how you'll spend those last moments. Would you spend it with those close to you or online wasting time. Truly think about what is sentimentally valuable rather than what has capital value. Living life in a way that is fun but at the same time loving is important to be the person to remember.
In my personal perspective, death is not a frightening thing. Death is something that happens to absolutely everyone. In fact, you are dying since the second you are born. Fearing oblivion, I already try to live every day ad if it were my last even though I am perfectly healthy. Going back to what I said before, it is not death that is scary but what happens after. Will you be remembered? If you are, would it be for the good or for the bad? How would your death affect those around you? There's countless unanswerable questions about death that can only be answered if you think about them as often as I do. Will you be remembered? Go out and do something that will make you remembered instead of wasting your time laying on the couch thinking about death and how scary you see it to be. If you live your life to the fullest, there really is nothing to be afraid of when you die because once you're gone, everyone will remember all the good you have done and try to carry on their lives the same way you have. Just think about it a bit. Ones death may bring sorrow in the beginning but can also bring people together to want to create a better life for themselves and everyone else while they still have it.
We all know that we're going to die, but nobody wants to believe that it will be anytime soon. Nobody wants to face the fact that, yes, we will all eventually come to our demise. If I had focused on the fact I will die someday, I may have done things differently. Instead of spending so much time alone in a dark room with my laptop, I would have gone out into the world. Someday, when I die, I want for my family and friends to stand by my coffin, remembering the good times that we shared. I want to be able to have memories shared with my friends, and I want to create a better life. As we all know, Of all the words of tongue and pen, the saddest of these "It might have been." Death may happen at anytime; so live life as if today were your last day.
Death happens to everything in order to live you need to realize that your going to die.You might be thing no that's never happening to me.One of these days it is going to be you. Lots of people have had a near death experience.Maybe this morning you were waiting for the bus and a car swerves and just missed hitting you.Thing of this sort has happened to me a few times. In fourth grade I was attacked by a dog and it was one of the scariest thing that's ever happened to me. Sometimes before I go to bed I think what if was dead right now? It could of grabbed my throat and that'd be the end of it. Would my death affect anything? Mostly likely not, but still it's kinda crazy to think about.
Death is a topic that no one really wants to talk about. A lot of people fear death. There are a lot of different beliefs about what happens when you die. No matter what you believe, can you ever really be sure. Morrie says that death changes your point of view. I believe it does. When you are dying, you focus more on the important things in life. You become closer to the people around you, and start to notice the little things that make life so much better. Morrie does not fear death, instead he looks at it like its the last lesson he should teach to his students. I was afraid of death, but this book has given me a new perspective.
This chapter begins with Morrie saying, "Everyone knows they'er going to die, but nobody believes it." He also says, "Once you learn how to die, you learn how to live. Both of these are very true. Everyone does know that they will die, but they choose not to believe it. One reason of this is because the thought of them dying frightens them, and another is they simply do not want to die. The second quote means that if you accept that you will one day day and figure out that it is inevitable, you will know the the true meaning of life. You will not waste your time doing meaningless things, but rather do the essential things that you believe will help you in achieving peace before you can not do anymore. Last, after we accept that we will one day die, we will be fully awake to live our life to its full potential.
Morrie said, "Once you learn how to die, you learn how to live." Personally, I think this quote means once you know and accept you are going to die, you will live life to the fullest extent possible. If you accept that you are going to die, you will start to realize the little things that are important to you. Everyone walks around everyday acting like they are not going to die, but in reality they someday will. Humans have the natural instinct and say that nothing bad will happen to them. We think we are immortal. I could not agree with Morrie more in this chapter. We have to understand that we are going to die, so we have to live everyday like it's our last since we truly do not know when we are going to die. In my opinion, it is extremely sad that it takes something as tragic as death for most people to open up their eyes to see what they really have and appreciate it. I never had anyone close to me pass away, so I am one of those people. I have not really thought about dying, so I haven't looked at life this way. Thanks to Morrie, I have learned to accept death and cherish the little things in life that matter to me.
"Once you learn how to die, you learn how to live." Morrie sates on page 82. I agree that most of us walk around as if we were sleepwalking and we don't really take the time to think about living. We just do things according to society and not what we think is best for us. We only think this way when we can see death just around the corner. We shouldn't have to live that way. What if you were to die today or tomorrow without a warning? Would you have lived the way you wanted? The only way you can fully live is if you "live like there's no tomorrow" as people say. Morrie says to pretend there is a little bird on your shoulder and ask it every day if today is the day. The day you might possibly die. This even may work for young people not just people who are dying like Morrie because it gets you more involved in your life now. This way whenever you do die you have lived a full life and if you are to die sooner than later then you have still lived fully. Morrie also mentions to Mitch how he appreciates the window more than Mitch does. Even I sit and stare out windows admiring the beauty but since I am not dying I still don’t appreciate things as much as Morrie. Morrie tells Mitch how he can’t run up and down the street like Mitch still can. I think Morrie wanted Mitch to realize that one day he may not be able to do these things and to enjoy it now. Even I might one day be stuck in a wheelchair not being able to do the things I love anymore. This is why you must enjoy life now because when death does come you will no longer be able to.
"…if you accept that you can die at any time- then you might not be as ambitious as you are." This statement made by Morrie says a lot. It is important to set goals for yourself, but they must be realistic. Otherwise, you spend your life striving to do or be something that is likely impossible. Then when death comes around, you will realize that you have wasted precious time of your life. No one can ever be sure when they are going to perish, so aim to do something positive and practical instead of struggling to be someone or something that will fail in the end.
"Everyone knows they're going to die," Death inevitable some sooner than others. Death in general is part of the life cycle. "Once you accept death , you can learn how to live." in other words don't dwell on the past, live your life to the fullest while you still can. If I was in the same situation Morrie was in I would be living my life to its fullest and spending time with my love ones while I still could. In this situation I think Morrie was trying to tell Mitch don't dwell on your death, you need to get passed that and think of the positives. I believe that once you stop dwelling on the negatives you'll be able to live your life to its fullest. I believe you must live each day as they come, don't dwell on the past ,it can not be changed. The future is uncertain so enjoy what you have today for tomorrow is not here.
On the third Tuesday, Mitch and Morrie talk about Death. Morrie shares a thought that although it may seem crazy is completely true. "Once you learn how to die, you learn how to live (pg. 82). When someone learns that soon they will die, they do everything that needs to be done before that person passes. They get in touch with family members, make sure there is enough money for there spouse, focus on doing things they've never had the time to do, ect... Morrie tells a certain truth about death that only a dying man could tell. I agree with Morrie. Death, in a way, awakens you and helps you realize what is truly important in your life. I don't always pay attention to what is important in my life, even though I should.
“Everyone knows they’re going to die, but nobody believes it.” Everyone knows that death is inevitable, but a lot of people try to convince themselves that they are some sort of exception. I believe that this is somewhat the result of the fact that a lot of people are afraid of death. Somewhere in all of our minds, we know that we are going to die, but we seem to live our lives as though we think they will never end. Morrie told Mitch that you need to be prepared to die. You need to ask yourself if you would be satisfied with how you lived your life if you died today. Morrie stated, “Once you learn how to die, you learn how to live.” People often think that they have all the time in the world to do what they want with their life. People have hopes and dreams, but they frequently think that they can just wait until tomorrow to start making those dreams become reality. The truth is, no one knows when they are going to die. Once you come to the realization that you are dying, you wish that you would have lived your life how you wanted to live it all along. We all need to cherish the little things and live our lives to their fullest potential because we don't know when we will no longer be able to do so.
On the fourth Tuesday, Mitch and Morrie talk about Death. People take life for granted. People are alive but are they actually living? Morrie says "Once you learn how to die, you learn how to live." Morrie is saying that once you accept that one day you will die than you can actually start to enjoy the time you have before that day comes. I agree with Morrie's outlook on death because most people live blindly than actually having fun with their short time on Earth.
Morrie starts off the Fourth Tuesday by saying "Everyone knows they are going to die, but nobody believes it." That is true. When people accept that one day they are going to die then that is when people begin to live. Everyone has to die so why not just live your life until you do. Nobody gets to pick when they die so you should always do what you love, and live like it is your last, because it could easily be.
Morrie says something very true. He says, "Everyone knows they are going to die, but nobody believes it." Morrie is saying that no one lives their lives like they want because they think they have so much time. They never believe they can die at any minute. He also says, "Once you learn how to die, you learn how to live." This means that you will not be the person you want to be until you realize you can die at any moment.
This Tuesdays topic is death, which was the top thing Mitch wanted to talk about. Morrie says "Everyone knows they are going to die, but nobody believes it. If we did, we would do things differently." This is basically saying people are so afraid of dying that they worry about it their whole lives and do not really spend it the way they wanted to because they have one main focus. Morrie is trying to tell Mitch that he should focus on everything equally so when you are close to death you did everything you ever wanted to and not regret what you didn't get to do.
"...To know you're going to die, and to be prepared for it at any time. If we did, we would do things differently." (Page 81) I believe that this quote makes perfect sense. If you know you're going to die you strive to live everyday to its fullest and do the things you would normally do differently. I believe that when you know you're going to die you don't take anything for granted, even something as small as taking out the garbage. For Morrie that was a time to go outside and enjoy life around him. Now all he can do is watch life from a small window. He says he appreciates it more than Mitch and I believe that's true. When you're healthy and can do everything you think nothing of it, but when something gets slowly taken away from you, you realize just how much you enjoy having it around. I hope I can live by Morrie's words and not taking life for granted. "Once you learn how to die, you learn how to live."
On page 80, Morrie stated that "Everyone knows they're going to die, but nobody believes it." Death is a topic that we like to drift away from, because it's not pleasant, and we choose not to believe it until we really are about to experience it. We experience death at the moment when we were brought into this world, but I don't think that we really look at it in that sort of way. Our life is like ticking time bomb, its ticking away, and there is no way to stop it, and we need to accept that. If you want to live a life worth remembering, change you life by instead of worrying about the little things, and start looking bigger. Live every day as if it were your last, and then death will find you but without regrets.
Morrie and Mitch talk about death on the third Tuesday. During this lesson Morrie says, "Learn how to die, and you learn how to live." When we are younger we don't think about death much because we think it is so far away. Once we realize that we are going to die soon we start to live our lives to their fullest. If we learn how to expect the fact that we are going to die someday we learn how to live and enjoy every day in our life. This is what Morrie means when he says "Learn how to die, and you learn how to live."
In my opinion, Morrie is right, for life is precious; it is a gift we must cherish. My grandfather, for example, he passed because of cancer. He knew when he was going to die so he always had the biggest smile on his face trying to make us forget his day will soon come. All you could feel was love and care in that room; he never complained over the little things, he finally understood the meaning of life and living. Live life to the fullest every day, and don’t stress over the small things; it will get you nowhere.
I agree with Morrie on this Tuesday because he says that once we learn how to die we learn how to live. I never thought of dying because I never really thought it could happen to me, so I haven't been living my life to the best of my ability. I think everyone, not just me, should open up our eyes and look at the things that matter. No one can escape death, so we have to accept it and live life the best we can. Because of Morrie, I am going to start looking at the things that truly matter in my life.
Morrie says, "Everyone knows they are going to die but nobody believes it. If we did we would do things differently." He is saying here that even though everyone knows we are all going to die, no one comprehends it. We can`t imagine that one day everything will be gone. If you go through everyday knowing that it could all go away soon, you will be more involved in your own life. I agree with this idea, we all rush through our days not really giving it a second thought if we made the right chocies. I think we should all try to live like Morrie, and believe we are going to die, it will make our lives better. "Learn how to die, and you learn how to live." this is very true, they go hand in hand.
Some people believe that death is a scary thing. I believe that death is nothing but a peaceful escape from the pain and misery of life. One you realize that death isn't bad you don't need to worry about dying. If you tell yourself every morning that you will die at the end of the day you can have the best life possible. You will die with no regrets. I know that some people may find death intimidating but some people welcome it as an escape. Like Morrie says "learn how to die and you will learn how to live."
Everyone will die someday. That's just a fact, and no one can change it. Morrie says that we need to acknowledge that we are going to die and to be prepared for it. Different people will apply this idea differently depending on religion or morals. People who believe that there is a god or a heaven prepare themselves for death by making themselves fit for their heaven. People who are not sure of a god or don't believe there is a god would prepare for death by making sure they are living the right way for themselves and others and by living their life the best they can. Humans are fighters. Humans are afraid of change. We don't like the idea that someday things will be different. Someday there will be absolutely nothing. We have a hard time understanding absolute nothingness because we've never had to experience it (or can't remember experiencing it) before. We all know we're going to die, but we don't really understand death.
I don't think about death much. Most of us probably don't. Morrie states, "Everyone knows they are going to die but nobody believes it If we did we would do things differently." I agree with Morrie when he says that. If we knew when we were going to die, we would take advantage of the time we had left. As Morrie said you would be more "involved" in your own life. Morrie also says, "Once you lean how to die, you learn how to live." I think that means that once you know your going to die ad realize that it could happen at anytime you are more thanful for the things that are important in your everyday life. If you accept death and that it is going to happen I think you will look at life differently. I want to try to live more like Morrie and be thankful for each day because you never know when your day will come.
In the words of Reverend Ford, from Pollyanna, “Death comes unexpectedly!” He, like Morrie, believes that you need to be prepared for death at all times because you never know when it will come. We are all going to die at some point, and we need to make a conscious effort to experience all that we can while we are still able to do so. You need to do the things that are important in life. Morrie says, “You strip away all that stuff [the things you think are important] and you focus on the essentials.” If you can learn “how to die,” or how to focus on only the necessities, then you will also learn how to live a happier life. You need to be happy with what you have, and not spend your whole life longing for more. You do not always need the newest smart phone or fancy new 3-D television. Last April, I met some of the happiest people I think I will ever meet, Haitian children. They literally have barely enough to survive. The children have only a few “toys.” By “toys,” I mean an old plastic bag on a string being used as a kite and leaves used as toy boats. Although these people have next to nothing, they are enjoying the life they have. These people, I believe, exhibit the kind of attitude that Morrie was envisioning. They could die today, and die happy.
On page 81 he says that there is a better way to aproach death than kidding ourselves, this is "to know you're going to die and to be prepared for it at any time." this is just saying that we can be more involved in our lives that if we accept that we are going to die. Morrie says "learn how to die and you learn how to live. That means we can live our lives like we would like to. Morrie says that no one really believes that they are going to die an he thinks we need to accept this.
"Everyone knows they're going to die, but nobody believes it. If we did, we would do things differently." Morrie states this on the fourth Tuesday. I agree, when we are young we tend to not think about death. I'm sure we've all thought that we're young why would we need to think about death it's not like we are going to die today, but the thing is you never know. If we realized this I think we would be more appreciative of the little things in life. Have you ever heard the saying, 'We're just passing through'? Well, that quote is true we are all just passing through. We are only on earth for a short time, so what Morrie is trying to say is make the best of it while we're still here. Like Mitch, some of us drift off and focus so much on jobs and money instead of the more important things in life. Personally, I think that if we all learn to accept and have a different outlook on death we would take the meaning of life to a new level. After reading this I have realized to accept death, and to take a step back to be thankful for the little things in life because I never know when my time will come.
Another question is asked in this Tuesday. Mitch asks Morrie how you can prepare yourself for death. Morrie says that the only way you can learn how to die is by learning how to live. And I guess this is pretty true. Morrie also says that when you truly know that you are going to die, you can finally see the world in a different light. The way that this is true is because, sometimes people are afraid to take chances. No matter who you are, you will always have the question in your head: am I going to fail or pass? But if you want to go through life without this question in your head, you must know that you don't have all the time in the world. Sooner or later, you will die, and dying means that you fail everything that you are trying you accomplish, if you haven't already accomplished it yet. That's why you must always live like you are dying, because truth be told, you are..
On The Fourth Tuesday Morrie and mItch talk about death. On page 80 Morrie says "Everyone knows they're going to die, but nobody believes it." I agree wuth Morrie when he says this because I know that one day I will dies, but I don't want to think about it until I get older. when we are young we do not think about death on a daily basis. On page 82 Morrie says "Once you learned how to die, you learn how to live." That is also true because if we all got a sigh that we will die soon, we would live life to the fullest so we can do everything we wanted to do before we die.
Morrie repeatedly says that "Everyone knows they are going to die, but nobody believes it." This is a very true fact indeed and mostly everyone knows someone who has died. People just don't want to believe it as Morrie says. Also another thing he said was that "it's like we are all sleep walking. We really don't experience the world fully, because we are half-asleep, doing things we automatically think we have to do." All of this is surprisingly exactly right and people don't realize what they are doing. There are so many things in this world, but we may not notice every spectacular thing because we are all "sleepwalking" the whole time. Hearing about death makes you wanna do everything and anything for that person or something while they are still on earth. Some people even become more spiritual when knowing that they are going to die soon. Most of us are all involved and worries about loving relationships, the universe around us, and we rake these things for granted. We all need to appreciate things while we have them and make the best of everything.
I do not really agree with Morrie about some of his views of death. Morrie reiterates, "Everone knows they are going to die, but nobody belives it." Many people fear death and the time it may come. I know death can come at anytime, I do not fear death, but I believe it when it comes. Although, I could not agree more when Morrie says you have to be prepared for death. I believe many people can take life for granted when they are still alive. There are some people who do not have the opportunity to appreciate what life has to offer. I think everyone should listen to Morrie when he says to be prepared for death. I also think religion has something to do with being prepared for death. The reason I do not fear death is because my religion trains me to be prepared for death. Morrie practices many different religions so I do not know what he thinks of death in a religious stand-point.
In the fourth Tuesday with Morrie. He explains to Mitch that everybody kids death. If everyone had a near death situation I feel like it would change a lot of peoples outlooks on life. Everyone thinks they'll live for a long time, that they'll be healthy forever, and that that could never happen to them. But Morrie explains how he thought the same also, and he's right where he never thought he'd be. And which we take things for granted. But if we lived life as if we were dying we would start to respect and be grateful for what we do have and that we aren't like other people who don't have it so good. As Morrie explains about the window. I love the advice and how positive Morrie is in this book. It makes me want to read more.
Morrie states “Everyone is going to die, but nobody believes it. If we did, we would do things differently.” (Page 81) I find this statement to be true, nobody wakes up and thinks to themselves “Is today the day?” We as humans do not want to think about dying, because we are so focused on living through the day. On page 83 Morrie states “When you learn how to die, you learn how to live.” I think this statement goes with the previous chapter about regrets. You need to live your life without regrets. Life your life as if everyday was your last day alive. If you were to die today, would you be happy with what you did with your life so far? What you were able to accomplish? Would you be able to look death in the eye and say “I did everything the way I felt was right, I die knowing that my life was full of fulfillment.” I don’t think many people can say that. More people need to start living everyday as if it were there last.
The fourth Tuesday's topic is death. Morrie states, "Everyone knows they are going to die but nobody believes it. If we did, we would do things differently." Not enough people are comfortable with the fact that everyone ends up dying. I have not fully accepted the fact that I am going to die. I mean, who actually wants to believe that? I feel that when people actually learn to accept the fact that they are going to die, they will learn to live life with more meaning and purpose. They will not take advantage of the little things in life. Morrie also says, "once you learn how to die, you learn how to live." I agree with this quote 100%. Whenever you accept the fact that you are going to die you learn to live life to the fullest.
The fourth day is about death. Morrie started with saying "Everyone knows they're going to die, but nobody believes it." Now death is a tragic thing. Nobody really wants to die, they all wanna hangout live life to the fullest everyday. Nobody really thinks about it. But sometimes we do, I know I think about it. Of course death comes naturally to everybody, we cant live forever like some people want too. Morrie says " once you learn how to die, you learn how to live." couldn't agree with this more!! When ever you know your going to die, accept and live your life to the fullest, one of my favorite quotes.
On the fourth Tuesday, they speak about death. Morrie emphasized one saying towards Mitch, "Once you learn how to die, you learn how to live." I feel people go by this saying in life. When a person finds out they are going to die soon, they often try to make the most of their life. An example of this would be a bucket list. This is just a list of things they'd like to accomplish before they die, or, "kick the bucket." Yes, it is true that when I find out that I'm going to die soon, I will definitely try to accomplish many more things. However, when Morrie gives this advice to Mitch, I think he means that people need to realize sooner in life that you WILL eventually die, and therefore, you shouldn't wait in life to accomplish things, but rather you should try right away! I always feel great after I've accomplished something, and I think that if people just tryed to accomplish tasks sooner, people would have a more fulfilled life and would most likely die a happier, more content person.
Everyone knows they will die, but many refuse to accept it. I believe you should live your life like Morrie and live each day as your last. One must ask their self , "If I die today would I be happy?" You could change your life just by asking this simple question. I believe more people should do this, including myself. I also agree with Morrie in the fact that you do not learn how to live until you learn how to die. This statement means that when you are dying you see the world in a whole new way. This is when you truly learn how to live. Until this moment you are not yet living life to its full potential.
On the third Tuesday Morrie and Mitch talk about death. Morrie says that once you know how to die you learn how to live. This means that once you come to the realization that you could die at any moment, you know how to live a better life. If you know you are going to die, you will stride do things that people remember and love about you even after you are long gone. Once you start doing things to be remembered by, you will keep doing things to be remembered by. This keeps making you a better person day by day.
On the fourth Tuesday, Morrie says that you don't know how to live until you know how to die. What Morrie is trying to say to Mitch is that you don't realize all the things in your life that you take advantage of until you lose them. It is like how Morrie loses his legs and all-he cant walk around just like Mitch. So what he is saying is that life's greatnesses are the things we don't even realize such as having the ability to be independent, walking, shopping, working, etc.
Also, it seems like we do not try to improve our acts and habits until it is too late to become better people because we don't stop until it is too late.
My favorite quote about death from Morrie is, "Once you learn how to die, you learn how to live." He's saying once you are going through the process of death, you begin to live. You do things you say you will "do later." death opens your eyes is what Morries trying to explain. It's not a bad thing, it happens every single day, every minute, every second. Don't be scared, don't feel sorry for yourself, just relax, live how you want to, and do everything you feel obligated to do.
The fourth Tuesday when Morrie and Mitch meets, they discuss death. Morrie said to Mitch, "Everyone is aware that they will eventually die, though no one actually believes it." He is trying to say he does believe he is going to die and knows how he is going to die, however some people do not know how they are going to die. As Morrie had done, we should accept our future death to not be afraid of it our entire lives. If we are afraid of what is going to happen in the future, we won't be able to move on with our lives and enjoy. Therefore, we should accept death and try to correct your mistakes before we die. But, however, this cannot be true if some people accept the fact they are going to die. I think the reason why some people are so worried about death is because death can be peaceful, like in your sleep or painful, like a car crash. We need to move on and stop worrying about death or we are going to be stuck in a place where everything seems dull and sad.
Death is unavoidable. I think that there are a lot of people that realize that, but they push it to the darkest corner of their mind until death confronts them head on. Personally, I've always known that I was going to die eventually. I guess you could say that I fear it, being that I wonder about it lot. I worry that I'll die too young or that when I do die, the process will be painful. I don't know how to die, and that much is awfully clear. However, I do know how to live. At least, I know how to live the way I want to. I don't agree with Morrie about death, but that's okay because he's entitled to his opinion and I'm entitled to mine. Who knows? Maybe when I'm face-to-face with my own death, I'll change my mind and agree with Morrie about all of the beliefs and opinions that he has.
Death is not something you can stop, but you don't realize how close it is until you are about to die. You need to live life to the fullest while you have because when it's gone, you cannot get it back. Morrie states "Once you learn how to die, you learn how to live." I agree with Morrie on this because until you realize you are about to die, you also realize that you didn't do everything in your life you wanted to. Overall this mean that you know your going to die but it comes faster then you may think, so live the life you have now to the best of your ability and don't wait until your about to die when you really can't anymore.
When people think of "death", they think of something peaceful. Such as dying peacefully in your sleep without a sound. But, I can sit here and tell you, that death isn't what people act out in movies and TV shows. Death IS scary, and death isn't something you should avoid. I, in a sense, agree with Morrie. I believe that as you age, and get into the 60's, 70's, and 80's, so start to have less troubles, and you get to relax more, so your mind opens up, and you have more time to yourself, and more time to think about what's going on around you. So, as I sit here, typing this, I'm trying to tell you to not be afraid of death, no matter how brutal it may be.
Another thing people think about when they hear the word "death", is that last look into the eyes of the person you love deeply. But, you should look them in the eyes, tell them something you have always wanted to, and just accept the darkness. When it's your turn, it's your turn, and there's a whole line waiting behind you. Only fight when you have the willpower to. Even if you don't, there's always a reason. Either you KNOW that it's NOT your time, and there is something you can do about it, or you're not ready, and you know that the people behind you can wait, because you can't go just yet. That's death, and as fierce as it may seem, don't be too afraid, because it IS part of living. You live, then you die. That's just life. Unfortunate, yes, but everyone has to cross that bridge. Don't be afraid of death.
When i hear the word death I think of the word end. I think it is an end to a lot of things, weather it be love, marriage, communication, ect. Death can be a good thing but on the other hand it could be a very bad thing. If it was good it could have been someone who was suffering and just needed the time to come, such as Morrie. He hardly had any capabilities to do anything himself. Weather it was walking, eating, or talking clearly. Morrie was a good man but was old and age effects a lot. He had a severe disease so it varies with some people. On the other hand death in a bad way could be accidental. I think that would be bad. If you think about it either way weather its for the best or for the worst death is terrifying. Someone out there will lose a loved one and that's always sad. For Morrie it was a good thing though, he is in a better place now.
"Learn how to die, and you learn how to live." ~page 83 Personally, when I think of death, I never think of myself dying, really. I think about people who have passed or pets. I never really put any effort into the thought about learning how to die. Morrie says when you know you're going to die, you live differently. I'd rather not want to know if I was dying mainly because, I don"t want to worry about things that could kill me faster. Morrie worries about going outside because he could get sick. I wouldn't want to worry about that stuff. It would be too much on top of the fact that I would know my ending was coming soon. So I agree with Morrie saying we need to know how to die so we can live our lives without the worry.
Death makes life look like a wonderful thing. According to Morrie, once you have learned how to die, you have learned how to live. I couldn't have said it any better. Dying makes you appreciate all the smaller things of life. It makes you want to experience life in a whole different way. Dying makes you wish that you never worried about the little things and never cared about the useless things, like keeping up with the Kardashian. If you were to live like you were dying, from the start, you would live the best life possible.
My family really doesn't think about death until someone in my family dies. I partially agree with Morrie becase ,yes, everyone knows that they are going to die, but they do not often think about it. When they do, there is really nothing they can do. However, I do think Morrie is right hen he says "Once you learn how to die, you learn how to live." I will try to be as optimistic as Morrie, but it will be a difficult task because of all the hardships I would go through.
I believe in Morrie's quote, "once you learn to die, you can learn to live." I feel his quote would mean a lot to me and the people I know because I know Morrie understands what he is saying. I believe this saying is very important. Only can you can you have a meaningful life, when you understand death. Also, "most of us all walk around like we are sleepwalking," I can relate to. I am a person to not take in the details of my surroundings. Morrie suggests not doing this. I feel this quote, if I think about it enough, will allow me to be more observant. I could have a better life before it is too late when I am weak, old, and sick.
ReplyDeleteNobody plans when they are going to die death just happens.
ReplyDeleteMorrie admits that he views life differently now that he knows “his day” is nearing.
ReplyDelete"Once you learn how to die, you learn how to live."
So, I have to appreciate more and live like I were dying,
ReplyDeleteNone of us really think about when we're going to die.
ReplyDeleteThere's going to be that one day where we all have to die at some point.
ReplyDeleteAside from theological view points, what is death? I think I've come to understand this clearer in the past few years. I used to have panic attacks when I thought about death around the age of twelve. I would shut down and worry. To the extreme. It kind of worried my parents. But I came to peace with the perspective of death. Here's how.
ReplyDeleteDeath is not a scary thing.
ReplyDeleteThe thought of death never used to cross my mind.
ReplyDeleteWhat happens after death and when death happens is a very touchy subject because no one exactly knows what happens because you’re already gone.
ReplyDeleteIf we all dwell on when we are going to die, we may lose sight of what is important. We may wonder how we will die, but it's more important to think about how you'll spend those last moments. Would you spend it with those close to you or online wasting time. Truly think about what is sentimentally valuable rather than what has capital value. Living life in a way that is fun but at the same time loving is important to be the person to remember.
ReplyDeleteIn my personal perspective, death is not a frightening thing.
ReplyDeleteWe all know that we're going to die, but nobody wants to believe that it will be anytime soon.
ReplyDeleteDeath happens to everything in order to live you need to realize that your going to die.You might be thing no that's never happening to me.One of these days it is going to be you.
ReplyDeleteDeath is a topic that no one really wants to talk about.
ReplyDeleteThis chapter begins with Morrie saying, "Everyone knows they'er going to die, but nobody believes it." He also says, "Once you learn how to die, you learn how to live.
ReplyDeleteMorrie said, "Once you learn how to die, you learn how to live." Personally, I think this quote means once you know and accept you are going to die, you will live life to the fullest extent possible.
ReplyDelete"Once you learn how to die, you learn how to live." Morrie sates on page 82.
ReplyDelete"…if you accept that you can die at any time- then you might not be as ambitious as you are." This statement made by Morrie says a lot.
ReplyDelete"Everyone knows they're going to die," Death inevitable some sooner than others.
ReplyDeleteOn the third Tuesday, Mitch and Morrie talk about Death.
ReplyDelete“Everyone knows they’re going to die, but nobody believes it.” Everyone knows that death is inevitable, but a lot of people try to convince themselves that they are some sort of exception.
ReplyDeleteOn the fourth Tuesday, Mitch and Morrie talk about Death.
ReplyDeleteMorrie starts off the Fourth Tuesday by saying "Everyone knows they are going to die, but nobody believes it." That is true. When people accept that one day they are going to die then that is when people begin to live. Everyone has to die so why not just live your life until you do. Nobody gets to pick when they die so you should always do what you love, and live like it is your last, because it could easily be.
ReplyDeleteMorrie says something very true.
ReplyDeleteThis Tuesdays topic is death, which was the top thing Mitch wanted to talk about.
ReplyDelete"...To know you're going to die, and to be prepared for it at any time.
ReplyDeleteOn page 80, Morrie stated that "Everyone knows they're going to die, but nobody believes it." Death is a topic that we like to drift away from, because it's not pleasant, and we choose not to believe it until we really are about to experience it.
ReplyDeleteMorrie and Mitch talk about death on the third Tuesday.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, Morrie is right, for life is precious; it is a gift we must cherish.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Morrie on this Tuesday because he says that once we learn how to die we learn how to live.
ReplyDeleteMorrie says, "Everyone knows they are going to die but nobody believes it.
ReplyDeleteSome people believe that death is a scary thing.
ReplyDeleteEveryone will die someday.
ReplyDeleteI don't think about death much.
ReplyDeleteIn the words of Reverend Ford, from Pollyanna, “Death comes unexpectedly!” He, like Morrie, believes that you need to be prepared for death at all times because you never know when it will come.
ReplyDeleteOn page 81 he says that there is a better way to aproach death than kidding ourselves, this is "to know you're going to die and to be prepared for it at any time." this is just saying that we can be more involved in our lives that if we accept that we are going to die. Morrie says "learn how to die and you learn how to live. That means we can live our lives like we would like to. Morrie says that no one really believes that they are going to die an he thinks we need to accept this.
ReplyDelete"Everyone knows they're going to die, but nobody believes it.
ReplyDeleteAnother question is asked in this Tuesday.
ReplyDeleteOn The Fourth Tuesday Morrie and mItch talk about death.
ReplyDeleteMorrie repeatedly says that "Everyone knows they are going to die, but nobody believes it." This is a very true fact indeed and mostly everyone knows someone who has died.

ReplyDeleteI do not really agree with Morrie about some of his views of death.
DeleteIn the fourth Tuesday with Morrie.
ReplyDeleteMorrie states “Everyone is going to die, but nobody believes it.
ReplyDeleteThe fourth Tuesday's topic is death.
ReplyDeleteThe fourth day is about death.
ReplyDeleteOn the fourth Tuesday, they speak about death.
ReplyDeleteEveryone knows they will die, but many refuse to accept it.
ReplyDeleteOn the third Tuesday Morrie and Mitch talk about death.
ReplyDeleteOn the fourth Tuesday, Morrie says that you don't know how to live until you know how to die.
ReplyDeleteAlso, it seems like we do not try to improve our acts and habits until it is too late to become better people because we don't stop until it is too late.
DeleteMy favorite quote about death from Morrie is, "Once you learn how to die, you learn how to live." He's saying once you are going through the process of death, you begin to live. You do things you say you will "do later." death opens your eyes is what Morries trying to explain. It's not a bad thing, it happens every single day, every minute, every second. Don't be scared, don't feel sorry for yourself, just relax, live how you want to, and do everything you feel obligated to do.
ReplyDeleteThe fourth Tuesday when Morrie and Mitch meets, they discuss death.
ReplyDeleteDeath is unavoidable.
ReplyDeleteDeath is not something you can stop, but you don't realize how close it is until you are about to die.
ReplyDeleteWhen people think of "death", they think of something peaceful.
ReplyDeleteAnother thing people think about when they hear the word "death", is that last look into the eyes of the person you love deeply.
ReplyDelete"Learn how to die, and you learn how to live." ~page 83
ReplyDeletePersonally, when I think of death, I never think of myself dying, really.
ReplyDeleteMy family really doesn't think about death until someone in my family dies.
ReplyDeleteI believe in Morrie's quote, "once you learn to die, you can learn to live." I feel his quote would mean a lot to me and the people I know because I know Morrie understands what he is saying.
