On the First Tuesday, Morrie says that since he is now suffering, he feels closer to other people who are suffering. He feels as if their anguish is his own; he even cries when thinking about other's suffering.
Just as Morrie said, “The most important thing in life is to learn how to give out love, and to let it come in,” love is the key to living a successful life. You interact with people, different in their own ways, every day and it is important to accommodate their emotions as you would your own. As much as showing your love is imperative, accepting it is, too. This goes for all emotions, not just love. In the flashback, Mitch recalls Morrie telling him that he was once shy and did not express himself well. Morrie wants Mitch to know that having emotions is part of life. It should be your natural instinct to feel sympathy for someone in pain, or happy for someone when they have achieved something notable. I believe accepting emotions is just as important as showing emotion. I reach agreement with Morrie’s perspective on emotions and how to express them.
Morrie is a very astute man with such compassion towards people he's never known. For instance, when he starts crying about the people in Bosnia getting shot at in the middle of the street. He's not embarrassed that he is crying. Rather, he tells Mitch he's going to teach him how to cry because it is okay to do so. “...We think we don't deserve love, we think if we let it in we'll become too soft. But a wise man named Levine said it right. He said, 'Love is the only rational act.'” I agree with Morrie unconditionally. Hatred takes too much energy and devours a healthy mind. It hardens the heart to a point where you can't love ever again. Love is the only thing in this catastrophic society that will ever make sense. Morrie is making the best of life. Thinking uniquely, sharing joy, spreading love and letting it in. He thinks of things in ways I never could have imagined! When Morrie tells Mitch about the fact that the day where someone will need to wipe his bottom is coming soon, he is sad for a moment but then lifts his chin and says "...I'm trying to enjoy the process... Yes. After all, I get to be a baby one more time." How strange is that to think of something where you are losing your independency as a redo in life? Furthermore, I would like to conclude with saying Morrie perceives what happens in our world and understands it more than many people ever will. His lessons are right on point and I comply with him one hundred percent!
When Morrie tells Mitch that "I cry a lot now" means that it's ok to cry, I agree. It's never good to just keep things bottled up inside. I know that sometimes you don't want to show you're emotions but don't be afraid to let it out. Keeping it in doesn't always help. Crying actually helps, you let everything out. Morrie also says and I quote "the most important thing in life is to learn how to give out love, and let it come in." I completely agree with him. Being loved by someone is an amazing feeling. So, show the people that are important to you that you love them and they'll show you in return that they love you. Showing love to some one is simply a great thing to do. You'll have this feeling that nothing can compare to. Love is a scary thing but when you let love come to you I'll be the best.
In this section of the book, my favorite thing Morrie says is, "The most important thing in life is to learn how to give out love, and to let it come in." I completely agree with this statement. In recent events I have experienced in my life, it is very important, like Morrie said, to learn how to give out love. Even the slightest hint of love you give to someone has an enormous on that person. Also when Morrie states, "I cry all the time now", is a realization that it is okay to cry. I,in fact, get very emotional sometimes and cry in front of people. The words of this amazing man can inspire all of us to come to our terms and realize that spreading love and emotions is thing to be shared.
I agree with Morrie when he shows his emotion he's not embarrassed of it though he's not scared to show how he feels. I feel that if you need to express your feelings you shouldn't be ashamed. Morrie says "the most important thing in life is to learn how to give out love, and let it come in." Which people who see you doing that shouldn't make you feel worse but show love to you. I personally should also learn to to show others love by doing simple things that are in everyday life. When you give out love to others love is giving back to you. It's how you treat others is how you will be treated back.
On(page 58) Mitch asked about the newspapers that Morrie was reading and to sum it up that If your dying, than what's the point of learning about what is happening in the world when your going to die and you won't even be a part of it. In my opinion I would not want to learn about what is happening, because I will be to worried about what is happening to the things around me. Due to what bad things could happen in future like something world disaster like, I would not want to know about so when I'm about to die I won't be thinking about what happens to the people I care about. therefore I do not agree about Morrie's topic about staying on task with the world.
"The most important thing in life is to learn how to give out love, and to let it come in."
This is a quote to live by. You'll be a happier person if you learn to love. People will return that love, and if you let it in, it's the best feeling in the world. Just think about it for a moment... Everyone has days where things don't go right for them, and whatever it is that goes wrong leaves you feeling upset. I'm sure it doesn't last long though. If you're like me, then you complain about it to your friends and/or family and they say something reassuring that leaves you feeling better afterwards.
I don't know if this is necessarily appropriate, but I'm going to type it anyhow because I believe that it better explains how strong and influential love is and how it can make the world a better place. Many teenagers today don't realize how many people care about them. That is why, when they become severely depressed and feel like they don't belong, like everyone hates them, they self-harm. I've had numerous friends that self-harm and still do, in fact. They say they don't want anyone's pity, but honestly, that's not true. Just knowing that someone cares enough to tell them to stop makes them feel so much better. A few days ago even, I told one of my friends to stop, and she told me how relieving it was that someone cared. In the near-future, I truly believe that she'll realize that harming herself isn't worth it and that it hurts and worries the people that care about her. The more-inspiring thing? I've never met her in real life. She's an online friend from England. The same thing happened with another online friend from Australia, but I'm pretty sure that she stopped because she realized how many people cared about her. That's two people that I've helped, two completely random people that I've never met and probably never will meet. Love, like I said above, can make the world a better place. So everyone, love as many people as you can, help them, and you'll recieve that same love back.
"I cry all the time now," when I first read this it hit me because some men don't really show their emotion to other people not even male friends. I think it's better to express your feelings than just keeping them locked up inside of you. Just sitting down with a family member or friend is okay, just talk it out and express how you feel. In this situation Morrie is telling Mitch its okay for men to cry, don't be ashamed about expressing your emotions. I think anyone who doesn't show their emotions and cries a little needs to read this book. Everyone was born with emotions, use it. "Crying does not mean that person is weak...But it means that person has a HEART..." to me this quote relates a lot to this book, this quote is not just meant out for men but also women too. "Maybe death is the greater equalizer, the one big thing that can finally make strangers shed a tear for another." this is very true. We've all heard stories about other people's death that have hit us because a love one or friend could have died from the same situation, so we can all relate to this quote.
Morrie talks about how he is not looking forward to the day when he must depend on someone else to clean him after he uses the restroom. That is the one thing that is the most concerning to him in his deteriorating process because it shows that he can no longer do much of anything on his own. Even though he finds much embarrassment towards this topic, he finds a different, happier way to look at it. He says, “…After all, I get to be a baby one more time.” He has all the time he needs to find the greater things in life, and he is surely taking advantage of it. You cannot live your life dwelling on the disappointing aspects of it. The only way to improve your life is to want to do it. If you keep falling into depression, it will be a lot more difficult for things to improve.
Morrie says, "We think we don't deserve love, we think if we let it in we'll become soft." this sentence is completely true. Every person, especially men, want to seem tough, and if they let in love they think they will be seen as soft. "Love is the only rational act," is what a wise man told Morrie one day. This is also true. Without love we would never be connected to anyone else. Everyone would just be on their own without anyone to lean on when we need help. Life would not be worth anything without anyone to share your life with either. We all think that we will become soft if we let love in, like Morrie said, but we will not become soft, we will become caring and compassionate. Love is what connects us to other people and is what lets other people into our lives to make things mean more. Without these people, without love, we would be all alone and life would not be worth anything. This is how love is the only rational thing to do, letting people in and showing love is the only way to let people love you in return, and have someone to be with for the rest of your life. I agree with Morrie's opinion on this because everyone needs a partner to make life worth living. Also love does not make you soft, it shows people that you will care for them, and that people can trust you.
During the first Tuesday, Morrie and Mitch talk about the world. They talk about how there are many tragic things that happen in our world. Morrie mentions that the other night he was watching TV and he saw innocent people running across a street in Bosnia getting fired at and killed. He then says that this made him so sad that he began to cry. I think that when Morrie says "I feel closer to people who suffer than I ever did before" explains why he started to cry. It took Morrie time but he eventually was able to relate to some of these people's situations which is why he felt so bad for them. What I learned from this is that we shouldn't have to suffer to feel sorry for people. We should be able to give people sympathy without experiencing the need for it.
On the first Tuesday Morrie states, "The most important thing in life is to learn how to give our love, and to let it come in." I can't agree more with this statement. I believe that it is essential for human beings to give out love and show our affection. If you truly understand this quote and live by it then you will see that your life will start to get better. Most people, especially teenagers, do not realize how many people truly care about them. It is imperative for us to accept love from other people. Personally, when I am upset I'll talk to people about it. I can only talk to them if I am willing to let them help me. I have to accept their love. It is extremely important to realize you're going to have emotions for people, and you have to accept it. Having these emotions is 100% normal. You won't become too "soft" by accepting love. I have found that by accepting love you will live a notable life. I could not agree with Morrie more. After reading that quote I realized that I have to start accepting love from other people rather than just showing it. Morrie wasn't afraid to cry in front of Mitch. In fact, he was not afraid to cry in front of anyone. I believe that nobody should be afraid to show their emotions towards anyone. You should not be embarrassed to do so. I am not afraid to show my emotions in front of anybody. After expressing my emotions it actually makes me feel better. In this aspect I believe I am living very much like Morrie.
During the first Tuesday Morrie and Mitch discuss the world. Morrie says that he cries all of the time now, and asks Mitch if it is okay for men to cry. Crying is normal; even the strongest men need to cry every once in a while. Sometimes what we need to feel a little better is a good cry. Morrie was okay with crying in front of Mitch; Morrie was comfortable showing his emotions. I wish more people were not afraid to show their emotions because sometimes, talking about it makes things better. Opening up makes some of the pain go away. He states, "The most important thing in life is to learn how to give our love, and to let it come in." This is very true because all people desire love. Showing affection is what makes us human. Often times people are afraid to show affection and let people in because they are afraid to get hurt again, but if you keep pushing people away you'll never be happy. Whether you are loved by a friend, a partner, or a relative, it is the best feeling. Morrie quoted a man named Levine in the book. The quote was "Love is the only rational act," and I agree. That quote is almost humorous because love is often portrayed as irrational, meaning it doesn't make sense. However the author appears to be taking the stand point that because being in love is such a joyous state of mind that it is the only thing that makes sense to do (why would you not want to be happy). Overall, it is important to love and show affection.
The world is the opening topic of Morrie’s and Mitch’s class this first Tuesday, but this is expanded into something deeper. It is about us letting out our emotions towards things and other people. Generally speaking, we don’t talk about how we’re feeling or let out emotions. Instead of this we need to loosen up and talk about it because it does help and it’s what makes us human with these emotions and love. Most of the time we do not talk or express our feelings and other things because we’re afraid of what others may say and hey I’ll be the first person to admit that I do this because of that fear of the response of others. Morrie has learned, and has taught me that it is ok to talk others and tell them how you feel or how you feel about them.
In the the first Tuesday with Morrie, he talks about the world. The way Morrie thinks about the entire world as he dies is so extraordinary, he sees it from different eyes and I believe that that's what Mitch is so hooked on, is how none of Morries tragedies affects him in the slightest. The way Morrie feels about people he doesn't even know is similar to my feeling as well. If I see people being hurt or abused in any way I feel sympathy for them and a feeling of sadness, so I know how Morrie feels in a sense. I also think Mitch is striding to feel this way also.
In Morrie's and Mitch's first "class" they talk about the world. Morrie discusses his thoughts and how they have changed since discovering about his disease (ALS).I think showing tears doesn't mean you're weak even the strongest people cry. It's a natural thing so why do try to hold them back? Morrie realized he's not the only one in the world going through thing like this therefore he cries with them, for them. "The most important thing in life is to learn how to give out love, and to let it come back in." By saying this Morrie is showing not showing concern for himself ,but everyone else in the world.
Love is the most important thing you can have in your life. It gives you comfort and security. That is what Morrie and Mitch are talking about here. "The most important thing in life is to learn how to give out love, and to let it come in." What Morrie means by saying this is that love is the only thing that can make you feel truly secure and truly comforted, knowing that someone will always be there for you. If you give your love to others, they will bring love to you. therefore, the only way to have happiness is to have love in your life.
In this chapter Morrie tells Mitch that he has to "look at life more uniquely now" which I believe people should do whether they are dying or not. Looking at life in a different perspective and always thinking deeper into things is something I do and will keep doing. Morrie also asks Mitch if men crying is ok with him. I agree that you have to let your emotions show sometimes as well as being yourself because that gets you farther in life instead of just keeping to yourself all of the time. It is important to have people like Morrie to talk to and to keep you moving forward. This was the biggest thing I agree with in this chapter.
Love is a very powerful thing that we experience everyday of our lives. Without love we would be powerless, we would have anything to truly fight for. I feel that the road to a happy, fun filled life is to be able to let love in and have the ability to let love out as well as Morrie had said. In this chapter Morrie talks about how some people feel as if crying is a source of weakness. I used to be one of those children, but after reading, my opinion has changed. Crying let's you let out all the emotions and pain, so that you can recover and become stronger.
On the first Tuesday that Morrie and Mitch meet, Morrie says that he has to look at life uniquely now and face facts. There is one thing that Morrie says he can do, he can look and what is important in life. You can tell by those statements that Morrie was a positive person and didn't let his disease bring him down. He continued to stay positive. More poeple should look at life the way Morrie did. He never let the bad things bring him down. There will always be things in life that don't go youre way, upset you, or even make you mad but in the end it's all part of life. You can either let it get the best in you and bring you down or rise above it and look on the positive side like Morrie. Morrie tells Mitch, "Now that I'm suffering, I feel closer to people who suffer than I ever did before. I think that the reason for that is because Morrie now knows what the pain feels like and how hard it is. All people should take things like that in to consideration. You don't know how painful or hurtful something could be till you experience it firsthand. All people should treat others how they would want to be treated in return. Morrie was not afraid to cry in front of Mitch and told him that it is ok to show emotion. I agree with Morrie. In some cases showing emotion or letting someone know how you feel can make you feel so much better. On the end of their meeting that first Tuesday Morrie states ''The mos important thing in life is to learn how out love, and to let it come in." I believe that is true. I think you have to give love to receive it. You also have to be able to accept it which is not always easy. I believe that in the end, love is the most important emotion.
As ALS continued to take over his body, Morrie managed to keep a positive outlook on his life. He said, “Well, I have to look at life uniquely now.” Morrie sympathizes with anyone who is suffering in the world. When I’ve dealt with the death of a family member or friend in the past, I felt like I could relate to other people who were going through similar situations. Another important topic that is covered in this chapter is showing your emotions. Morrie believes that it’s okay for everyone to cry in front of others. I couldn’t agree more. Everyone is going to cry in front of other people at some point in their life. We just need to accept the fact that expressing our emotions is normal. Expressing your emotions is beneficial as well. Crying in front of other people allows them to better understand what you are truly feeling and what you are experiencing. The last thing that Morrie said that really stood out to me in this chapter was “The most important thing in life is to learn how to give out love, and to let in come in.” It’s usually harder for people, myself included, to let love in than it is to give it out. People often think that others need and deserve love, but when it comes to themselves they feel unworthy. A lot of people in the world today think that they will become too soft if they let love and sympathy come to them. Even though I often think this way, I don’t think that I always should. In conclusion, I think that the main thing that we can all learn from this Tuesday is that the process of dying gives you a new perspective on life and the world.
In Morrie and Mitch's first class, it begins with Morrie talking about how he watches the news and how he feels about the problems that people are going through around the world. He explains how he cries when he sees this because he feels that, now with having the disease he has received, he can relate to how these people are feeling. Then he asks Mitch if it is okay for men to cry. This transitions to talking about sharing and receiving love. Morrie states that "The most important think in life is to learn how to give out love, and to let it come in". It seems like, most of the time, boys are afraid (or even girls sometimes) to show their emotions because they are afraid to show some form of a weakness. But the truth is that showing emotion is a part of life. It also helps to share your feelings because, if you keep all those emotions bottled up inside of you, you will just feel worse.. The way Morrie's phrase applies to love and being happy is that, if you take the time to share your love through sharing how you feel, then people will share their feelings with you. And everyone has the desire to receive love. Its human nature. The reason this all pertains to life is because there is only one happiness in this life, and that is to love and be loved.
On the first Tuesday Morrie and Mitch talk about the world. As Morrie's ALS continues he starts to get upset. As he is watching TV he sees people being shot at and killed and they are just innocent people. Now he feels closer to the people that are suffer because he is suffering and understands how they feel. Every day Morrie cry's and is always weeping. Morrie asks Mitch, "This is okay with you, isn't it? Men crying?" He says this because you usually wouldn't see a man crying. Just from watching little kids play I notice that when a girl gets hurt she cry's and cry's and someone seems to comfort her, but when a boy gets hurt they get told to shake it off, you'll be fine, or toughen up! That's how they were raised so in the long run that's is how they act and don't show any emotion on sympathy. "The most important thing in life is to learn how to love, and to let it come in." This is a very important thing that Morrie said. To me this means that we should always love and accept others love for us also. It is a very difficult thing for me and probably a lot of people to let love come in. You should though because one day someone may not be there to love you. Learn to except it because it will help you a lot. Love is a very powerful thing in this world and can do a lot of things. In conclusion, for the first Tuesday, love is a very strong thing and as you get older and start to die you view things in a whole new perspective.
On the first Tuesday, Morrie and Mitch talk about the world. Morrie tells Mitch he feels as though he is drawn to people who are suffering. For me personally, when I am going through something, I relate to other people who are going through the same thing. It is almost as though I can feel their pain. Just like Morrie, I believe it is alright to cry, but I rarely do it because I do not like expressing my emotions in front of people. Because of Morrie, I think I will start to open up with emotions more. According to Morrie, the most important thing in life is to learn how to give out love, and to let love come in. It is important for me to not only show love, but let people show me love. It is not always the easiest thing to do, but it is something we have to do. Without love we wouldn't be the people we are today. I often think people need love, but when it comes to myself I don't think I deserve any. This is because I don't want to become a "softy." Thanks to Morrie, I have realized I won't be considered a softy because everyone deserves love. Emotions are a huge part of life. We can't be afraid to show them in front of people.
On the first Tuesday Mitch and Morrie talk about the world. Since Morrie is near death he feels sympathy for people who have died or are sick just like him. Morrie cried about people half way around the world getting killed but most people wouldn't pay as much attention to it as he did. I would never cry for someone dying halfway across the world because I don't know them, their culture, or their life. Morrie taught me to have sympathy for strangers because they are humans just like me.
The first Tuesday with Morrie he describes his independence. He describes it by telling us how he feels like he should be enjoying everything he has done and everything that has happened when he was able to do things by himself. Morrie also explains how he was crying whenever he found out that people around the world were dying and suffering and he felt the need to be sad with them. Since he is suffering he knew how those people were feeling and how hard it must of been for them just like it is for him.
The first Tuesday of Morrie's and Mitch's sessions is about the world and what comes with it. Morrie had mentioned to Mitch that he had cried about the sad and horrible events had happened around the world. Then, I realized these events can happen around our time and some events really happened in the United States that caused pain, depression and devastation. But, Morrie isn't crying because of pain, depression devastation, he is crying because he feels compassion for those who he doesn't know and is not worrying about strangers he doesn't. I know Morrie has a pure heart because he thinks of so many things to help people and spends less time worrying about himself. Morrie, I had realized, is not sad this disease has poisoned his life. He is actually fine with his disease and this actually made me figure that the world can lean on each other as friends and stop all this conflict Morrie had mentioned. This is Morrie's thought and the lesson that I had learned: "The most important thing to learn in life is how to give out love, and how to let it come in."
I am writing this blog last. I know it is out of order, but at first i didn't know what to say. The world is such a broad topic. Morrie, suffering from ALS, rarely cries for himself. The reason he cries is the world. Innocent people are being shot and killed. Now that Morrie is suffering, he feels a lot closer to other people who are suffering. This actually does happen. When you are going through a difficult time, you can understand other peoples problems and have sympathy for them. Morrie asks Mitch if he is ok with men crying. Morrie says he cries a lot more now because he understands suffering. I believe it is ok for men to cry. From a young age boys are told not to cry, because crying shows weakness. I don't think crying is a weakness. I believe that crying can make you stronger. You can't keep your emotions bottled up inside of you, eventually you got to let them out.
"But its hard to explain, Mitch. Now that I`m suffering, I feel closer to the people who suffer than I ever did before.", is one of the things Morrie tells Mitch. Mitch found this interesting, he had been exposed to many sad news stories but never had felt any emotion for the people, we are the same way. Everyday we hear sad stories but we never feel any compassion towards the people. Morrie is nearing the point of death, he knows what it feels like to suffer. He understands what pain those people are going through, and feels closer to them. When we go through hard times in life we will be able to understand other people`s pain better. Today in our society we really don`t care about whats happening outside of our own little worlds, but Morrie can see past that and relates to the other people. I beleive that we should all try to be like that. "The most important thing in life is to learn how to give out love, and to let it come in." It is hard for most people to accept love, we don`t think we deserve it. Everyone needs love to be truly happy. If we live our lives keeping people out, it would not be a very happy life. You have to reach out, love, and help others, and let others do the same for you. Morrie did just that. I strongly agree with Morrie`s idea here and believe that we should all try to live this way.
On page 52, Morrie states a very strong statement about love that is very true. He says "' We think we don't deserve love, we think that if we let it in we'll become too soft.'" This statement is inferring that we do not want to let love into our hearts because it weakens us, that it takes us from being strong people to soft people. Morrie is saying this because it is true that love weakens us. We all get softer feeling as love takes over. For instance, look at our parents. They say that we changed the way they view life by showing them the real greatness of life. Meanwhile, it is only natural for us to accept love. Although we may feel that we do not deserve it, we will accept it. Without love, we would pretty lonely because we wouldn't have connections that we have with others. Life wouldn't be as enviable as it is if we didn't have our family and friends who we love.
"The most important thing in life is to learn how to give out love, and to let it come in," Morrie stated this saying it is alright to let out your emotions and to not keep everything bottled up inside of you. In life women are prone to letting out emotions easily, usually. This is where men lack something that women have. Sometimes men, especially teenagers, think its not "cool" to cry or show any emotions toward anything, but that is not the case. Morrie is trying to send a message to all of us telling us it is not a crime to show emotions whether its toward friends or family no one should judge you for having emotions it is human nature. I strongly agree with what Morrie's lesson here is. Letting out your emotions actually can make you a stronger person. Those who choose hold in their emotions should read this book to help them realize how unproductive keeping everything to themselves is. Life is never easy and always has hard times, so why do some of us choose to act like life is always perfect?
On page 51 mitch thought "maybe death is the great equalizer, the one thing that can finally make strangers shed a tear for one another." Death is one of the only things that all people have in common. Mitch realizes this because he see's that Morrie, now that he is dying, feels for everyone else that is going through the same suffering. He feels closer to them because he knows that they are feeling the same thing he is. There is an understanding and mutual feeling that Morrie feels with other people that are dying.
Is it ok for men to cry? This is what Morrie is asking Mitch in this chapter. Is it ok for grown men to feel sadness over the fact that their life is coming to an end? The answer to this is yes. Some people believe that letting out your emotions make you a stronger person, I am one of those people. In todays society, women are known to cry, men are "too strong to show any weakness." Morrie is trying to get Mitch, and the readers to understand that it is okay to show weakness, its what makes us human.
On the first Tuesday Mitch and Morrie come together, their discussion involved many interesting insights. Morrie asks Mitch if it is okay for men to cry. Mitch answered quickly and I think he was a bit surprised by the question. I think it is a good thing for men to cry. Some people think if your are a man you should not cry because it is a sign of weakness. To me, I think if you cry about something, it shows how much you care about something. Morrie and Mitch also get to an interesting point about love. Morrie states, "The most important thing about life is to learn how to give out love, and to let it come in. " This statement is how I try to live out my life everyday. I do and try my best to love everyone around me. Although, letting love come into you is also very important to me. The way Morrie talks about the world is mostly by discussing how love is all around us. I agree and admire how Morrie views the
On the first Tuesday Morrie states "The most important thing in life is to learn how to love, and to let it come in." I believe this is very important. I relate my life to this a lot actually. Morrie talks about how love is all around house. I certainly agree with everything Morrie says. Morrie asked Mitch if it okay for men to cry. Personally I think its okay for everybody to cry, it shows that you care. Some people disagree but it is okay for men to cry. It shows a weakness and that's okay.
On the first Tuesday Morrie and Mitch talk about the world. Morrie states that he cries all of the time now. Morrie also asks Mitch if it is okay for men to cry. I feel that it is extremely acceptable for men to cry. Crying is not a sign of weakness in any way. I believe crying makes you stronger as a person. Many guys, especially teenage boys feel as if crying means you are weak because most women usually show emotion easier. I feel if you let your emotion out more you can live your life happier. Morrie says, "The most important thing in life is to learn how to give out love, and to let it come in." If you learn to love others and care for them they will care and love you the same way. You cannot live life without any love in it. Some guys feel if you let love come into your life it will make them "softer." There is nothing wrong with loving someone or something, in no way does it mean you are "soft" it just shows that you care.
Morrie states, "The most important thing in life is to learn how to give out love, and to let it come in." This is the last topic Mitch and Morrie discuss on the first Tuesday that they meet. They, on the first Tuesday, talked about the world. Subjects like love and death were brought up in discussion. When Morrie makes this statement about love, he is saying that it is so important in life to love people, and in return, they will love you, which I feel is an accurate thought. Getting along with people is so vital in life. Everyday you're going to interact with someone, and being kind to that person is critical. Morrie also mentions an incident he witnessed on the television where people were in anguish. He said he felt closer to them because both him and the people were suffering. This leads him to cry. Is it okay for men to cry? Is that possible? Does it show weakness? He tells Mitch that it is okay. I agree with this. Crying is not a sign of weakness, but rather a showing of emotion. Today, people commonly mistake that. If you cry, it is not because you are weak, it is because you feel bad for that person or that thing which you are crying over. This is what Morrie is trying to tell Mitch.
On the first Tuesday Morrie and Mitch talk about is it acceptable for men to cry or show emotions. I feel that is okay for men to cry and show emotions. I also feel that not showing emotions makes you look like an idiot who dosn't realize what is happening. It shows that they are not blocking out the world and what is happening to it. Instead it shows that they realize how sad or horrible a situation is. It also shows that feel sympathy for the person or people that the event has happened to.
On the first Tuesday Morrie, we read about Mitch's first time witnessing Morrie cry . He thought it was "amazing", but to Morrie, it was an every day thing. By him doing that, it showed me that hiding your emotions is just going to cause more pain. By him letting his emotions out, he was able to continue his conversation with Mitch as if nothing ever happened. This gives a great look on how Morrie has the ability to deal with his illness and softer subjects.
Morrie asks Mitch if it is okay for him to cry. Morrie is a strong man and obviously needs to cry every now and then just to relieve some pain. After reading this book I think all the topics kind of come back to this one. Everything they cover is stuff that happens in the world. "The most important thing in life is to learn how to give out love, and to let it come in." Hes saying give your love to everyone. It will come back one day. Everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle and all need even just a smile to make their day better. Morrie knows the world is a scary place and he tries to make the best of it.
In the first Tuesday with Morrie, they talk about the world. Morrie says he has to look at life uniquely. This means he has to face the facts of his life. He has to accept the fact that he has ALS. Morrie and Mitch talk about how it is okay for men to cry and show some emotion. To me this means that Morrie needs to face the fact that he has ALS, but in the process he is aloud to show emotion. He is aloud to cry. This is a hard road to go down for him and it is okay to show that it's a hard sad road. This really relates to life. It can be for either sex but it is more on the male side. Any male can through a really rough time, but in the process, he can show some emotion for this tough time.
Men of this world are afraid to show emotion anymore, because they're afraid that their "manliness" could be ruined, and they would be made fun of. But, honestly, I've seen many men cry, and to be honest with you all, it's a shockingly beautiful sight. Some people should face the fact that people cry, and there's nothing they can do, because it's not okay to keep everything bottled up inside of you. There's no reason to. Why have emotions, if you're not going to express them. They're there for a reason, and some people either don't use them correctly, or use them against someone else.
I DO see where Morrie is from on this, because if you were to meet someone who was in the same, terrible, situation as you, you know what they're feeling, and sometimes it's hard to look at someone who isn't you, and who's going through the same thing, and there's nothing that you, or anyone can do. But, that's also part of life. If you have a broken bone, and you see someone else with the same broken bone as you, you feel bad, because there's nothing you can do, and you're in the same position as them, and you understand their pain, and no one wants someone else to suffer. That's just part of Human Nature.
Only cold-hearted people want others to suffer. (Unless they did something absolutely unforgivable, then I would understand your anger.)
Although Morrie suffered from the disease ALS, he still tends to be a teacher. On his first class on Tuesday he is greeted with snacks from Mitch, which was very thoughtful on Mitch's part. Morrie explains to Mitch how he is trying to enjoy being alive but he just consistently cries. When Mitch heard that come out of Morrie's mouth I think that he was shocked because the Morrie he used to know was very tough, even though at that time he didn't know that he was suffering from a severe disease. He thought back to the healthy Morrie, the one that never complained, the one that was always very satisfied with the world and life itself. Morrie became very upset but who wouldn't? He is going to die soon. He told Mitch that "The most important thing in life is to learn how to give out love, and to let it come in." When Mitch heard that I think he realized that love is what makes the world alive. Mitch took heart on that quote. After reading this book I think that you should take life more serious, no matter what age you are at. Instead of making a stupid mistake and possibly dying from it why don't you try living Morrie's life. I guarantee you will interpret that life is very fragile.
On Mitch's first Tuesday with Morrie, they discuss love and sympathy. Morrie says, "The most important thing in life is to learn how to give out love, and to let it come in." Morrie could not have said it any better. Many people do not understand how to give out and let love in, and the are the unhappy people in our world. To me, a happy organism is a loved organism. Love can make anyone happy, or just letting them know they mean something to someone. Love and sympathy come in a package. Most of the time, showing sympathy, is by crying. Everyone cries, and that is perfectly fine by me. Crying does not discriminate you in anyway, no matter who you are.
During Mitch and Morrie's first Tuesday meeting, Morrie says "I can't take out the garbage. But I can sit here with my dwindling days and look at what I think is important in life." Morrie makes me think of what I am doing that I could change to something more important than it. What he said reminds me that the man does not have much left, but he is giving a full effort to enjoy life. Mitch says Morrie cries over people who are on the other side of the world being executed in the streets of Bosnia and other places in the world, so Morrie feels he is drawn to them. I think Morrie feels like the citizens being shot at are going to be killed without peace. I feel the same way, however, Morrie is able to get a better feeling because of his physical state at the time, and he knows he is able to find the peace in the world.
When Morrie began to cry over the innocent poeple in Bosnia, it seemed odd to me. He did not even know anything about those poeple yet he was crying like they were childhood friends. When my family watches these types of stories or reports on the news, it goes in through one ear and out of the other. They do not even think about crying, it does not cross their minds. If I were in Morrie's shoes I am not sure if I would react the same way he did. He says because he is suffering, he feels closer to those who are also suffering or who have suffered.
When Morrie is saying he feels closer to people that who suffer than he ever did, he probably feels that way because he understands what they are going through. He is able to feel there pains. And understands how their hard times are. I think he getting their feelings and how they felt. He felt like he should be enjoying everything, except he feels that since the people are suffering he should with them.
ReplyDeleteMorrie is a very astute man with such compassion towards people he's never known. For instance, when he starts crying about the people in Bosnia getting shot at in the middle of the street. He's not embarrassed that he is crying. Rather, he tells Mitch he's going to teach him how to cry because it is okay to do so.
ReplyDelete“...We think we don't deserve love, we think if we let it in we'll become too soft. But a wise man named Levine said it right. He said, 'Love is the only rational act.'”
I agree with Morrie unconditionally.

ReplyDeleteWhen Morrie tells Mitch that "I cry a lot now" means that it's ok to cry, I agree.
DeleteIn this section of the book, my favorite thing Morrie says is, "The most important thing in life is to learn how to give out love, and to let it come in." I completely agree with this statement.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Morrie when he shows his emotion he's not embarrassed of it though he's not scared to show how he feels.
ReplyDeleteOn(page 58) Mitch asked about the newspapers that Morrie was reading and to sum it up that If your dying, than what's the point of learning about what is happening in the world when your going to die and you won't even be a part of it.
ReplyDelete"The most important thing in life is to learn how to give out love, and to let it come in."
ReplyDeleteThis is a quote to live by.
ReplyDeleteMorrie talks about how he is not looking forward to the day when he must depend on someone else to clean him after he uses the restroom.
ReplyDeleteMorrie says, "We think we don't deserve love, we think if we let it in we'll become soft." this sentence is completely true.
ReplyDeleteDuring the first Tuesday, Morrie and Mitch talk about the world.
ReplyDeleteOn the first Tuesday Morrie states, "The most important thing in life is to learn how to give our love, and to let it come in." I can't agree more with this statement.
ReplyDeleteDuring the first Tuesday Morrie and Mitch discuss the world.
ReplyDeleteThe world is the opening topic of Morrie’s and Mitch’s class this first Tuesday, but this is expanded into something deeper.
ReplyDeleteIn the the first Tuesday with Morrie, he talks about the world.
ReplyDeleteIn Morrie's and Mitch's first "class" they talk about the world.
ReplyDeleteLove is the most important thing you can have in your life.
ReplyDeleteIn this chapter Morrie tells Mitch that he has to "look at life more uniquely now" which I believe people should do whether they are dying or not.

ReplyDeleteLove is a very powerful thing that we experience everyday of our lives.
ReplyDeleteOn the first Tuesday that Morrie and Mitch meet, Morrie says that he has to look at life uniquely now and face facts.
ReplyDeleteAs ALS continued to take over his body, Morrie managed to keep a positive outlook on his life.
ReplyDeleteIn Morrie and Mitch's first class, it begins with Morrie talking about how he watches the news and how he feels about the problems that people are going through around the world.
ReplyDeleteOn the first Tuesday Morrie and Mitch talk about the world.
ReplyDeleteOn the first Tuesday, Morrie and Mitch talk about the world.
ReplyDeleteOn the first Tuesday Mitch and Morrie talk about the world.
ReplyDeleteThe first Tuesday with Morrie he describes his independence.
ReplyDeleteThe first Tuesday of Morrie's and Mitch's sessions is about the world and what comes with it.
ReplyDeleteI am writing this blog last.
ReplyDelete"But its hard to explain, Mitch.
ReplyDeleteOn page 52, Morrie states a very strong statement about love that is very true.
ReplyDelete"The most important thing in life is to learn how to give out love, and to let it come in," Morrie stated this saying it is alright to let out your emotions and to not keep everything bottled up inside of you.
ReplyDeleteOn page 51 mitch thought "maybe death is the great equalizer, the one thing that can finally make strangers shed a tear for one another." Death is one of the only things that all people have in common. Mitch realizes this because he see's that Morrie, now that he is dying, feels for everyone else that is going through the same suffering. He feels closer to them because he knows that they are feeling the same thing he is. There is an understanding and mutual feeling that Morrie feels with other people that are dying.
ReplyDeleteIs it ok for men to cry? This is what Morrie is asking Mitch in this chapter. Is it ok for grown men to feel sadness over the fact that their life is coming to an end? The answer to this is yes. Some people believe that letting out your emotions make you a stronger person, I am one of those people. In todays society, women are known to cry, men are "too strong to show any weakness." Morrie is trying to get Mitch, and the readers to understand that it is okay to show weakness, its what makes us human.
ReplyDeleteOn the first Tuesday Mitch and Morrie come together, their discussion involved many interesting insights. I agree and admire how Morrie views the
ReplyDeleteOn the first Tuesday Morrie states "The most important thing in life is to learn how to love, and to let it come in." I believe this is very important.
ReplyDeleteOn the first Tuesday Morrie and Mitch talk about the world.
ReplyDeleteMorrie states, "The most important thing in life is to learn how to give out love, and to let it come in." This is the last topic Mitch and Morrie discuss on the first Tuesday that they meet.
ReplyDeleteOn the first Tuesday Morrie and Mitch talk about is it acceptable for men to cry or show emotions.
ReplyDeleteOn the first Tuesday Morrie, we read about Mitch's first time witnessing Morrie cry .
ReplyDeleteMorrie asks Mitch if it is okay for him to cry.
ReplyDeleteIn the first Tuesday with Morrie, they talk about the world.
ReplyDeleteMen of this world are afraid to show emotion anymore, because they're afraid that their "manliness" could be ruined, and they would be made fun of.
ReplyDeleteI DO see where Morrie is from on this, because if you were to meet someone who was in the same, terrible, situation as you, you know what they're feeling, and sometimes it's hard to look at someone who isn't you, and who's going through the same thing, and there's nothing that you, or anyone can do.
ReplyDeleteOn Mitch's first Tuesday with Morrie, they discuss love and sympathy.
ReplyDeleteDuring Mitch and Morrie's first Tuesday meeting, Morrie says "I can't take out the garbage.
ReplyDeleteWhen Morrie began to cry over the innocent poeple in Bosnia, it seemed odd to me.
ReplyDeleteWhen Morrie is saying he feels closer to people that who suffer than he ever did, he probably feels that way because he understands what they are going through. He is able to feel there pains. And understands how their hard times are. I think he getting their feelings and how they felt. He felt like he should be enjoying everything, except he feels that since the people are suffering he should with them.
